Errata for 1861-1869: The Bloodiest Years

  • Page 32, first paragraph: The Black Rock Desert is east of Granite Creek, not west. (2/26/26)

Errata for Killings at Little High Rock and Rabbit Creek

  • Page 110, The Inquest of the Daggett Band: The text relies on a 1911 source that states that "three rifles, one shotgun, one revolver, one spear" were recovered. In Only One Survived, author Les Sweeney states that only two Winchester rifles and Cambron's pistol were recovered. (3/2/26)

Errata for The Train Always Wins

  • Page 148, Willard Zent: The text incorrectly states that the train was westbound, it was eastbound. (2/21/26).

Errata for Murders and Mayhem

  • Page 193, Joe Henicksman, third paragraph: "William" should be "Williams." (2/26/26)
  • Page 194, Manuel Rojas, first paragraph: "Ochio said Rojas and his travel companion, Henderson started fighting" should have a comma after "Henderson."

Errata for Suicide: The Final Choice of Some

  • Page 211, Caleb David "Shooter" Schaber, first paragraph. "Utilizing his mischievous nature" should be "He utilized his mischievous nature."

Errata for That Thing in the Desert

  • Page 295, Shane Billingham: "Billingham" is incorrectly spelled "Bellingham" in three places and in the index. (2/23/26)

Errata for 1846-1860: Emigrants and Battles

  • Page 17: Contemporary sources use "Naches" or sometimes "Natchez," so we use "Naches" here. (5/6/26)
  • Page 20: Bill James, not "Jones" stated that several people were buried at the site of Susan Coon's grave and it was James who painted the letters of Coon's gravestone. (3/31/26)
  • Page 20: Insert a comma after "how" in "Amesbury describes how, in 1965," not "Amesbury describes how in 1965." (3/31/26)
  • Page 33: Dave Hicks: Added commas around "named Dave." (3/31/26)
  • Page 34: John Smith was shot on January 17th at Smoke Creek Station, not either the 17th or 18th. (3/31/26)
  • Page 39: The header should be "Soldier Meadows," not "Soldier Meadow." (3/31/26)

  • Page 55: In the first two paragraphs about Charles League, "Soldier Meadow" should be "Soldier Meadows.". (3/31/26)

Errata for The 1895 Limbo Murders

  • Page 84: Contemporary sources use "Naches" or "Natchez," not "Natchez Winnemucca" or "Naches Winnemucca." So, "Natchez (also known as Naches), Winnemucca (brother of Sarah Winnemucca Hopkins)," should be "Natches (also known as Natchez, who was the brother of Sarah Winnemucca Hopkins)," (4/17/26)

  • Page 107: In the third paragraph, the posse traveled to "Soldier Meadows" not "Soldier Meadow." (3/31/26)

Gerlach's Only Cemetery

  • Page 129: In the paragraph about Jack Casey, "Soldier Meadow" should be "Soldier Meadows." (3/31/26)
